Biography

Assistant professor Aloysius Newenham-Kahindi joined UofS Business in 2008 from the Haskayne School of Business at Calgary University where he worked as a post-doctorate research associate with the International Resource Industries and Sustainability Centre (IRIS). He earned his PhD in International Management from Trinity College, University of Dublin in 2007. A Tanzanian national with a MSc. in Organizational Studies from the University College Dublin, and Bachelor of Psychology and Philosophy from Pontifical Urbaniana Universitat in Rome, Aloysius is interested in investigating how multinational companies strategize their corporate social responsibility practices, manage people (HRM) and global talents, transfer and appropriate knowledge abroad, and engage in entrepreneurial business ventures with local communities in developing countries as well as how foreign direct investment affects the performance of indigenous companies in Africa. He has discovered that multinational companies in developing countries need to embrace contingency-oriented efforts in R&D and marketing with various local context learning mechanisms in order to build up sustainable competitive advantages and legitimacy. Aloysius is also interested in general theory development in international business, such as sustainable development innovation and stakeholder relationships to business strategy.
