Biography

Richard J. Long is Professor of Industrial Relations & Organizational Behaviour at the University of Saskatchewan.  He holds B.Com and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Alberta, a Ph.D from Cornell University in New York, and is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP).  Dr. Long has been teaching, conducting research, and consulting in human resources management for more than 30 years, and has produced more than 90 publications based on his research and experience.  He is the author of several books, including Strategic Compensation in Canada, the third edition of which was published in Toronto by Thomson Nelson Publishing in 2006. In 2003 he received the “Schulich Award for Teaching Innovation,” funded by the McConnell Foundation and administered by the Schulich School of Business at York University. He has served on numerous academic and professional bodies, including the executive of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada and the Professional Standards Committee of the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations, and is currently on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Human Resource Management and Relations Industrielles/Industrial Relations.
